If there’s one thing that takes a homemade burger from good to absolutely unforgettable, it’s the sauce and this Smash Burger Sauce is exactly that. It’s creamy, tangy, a little smoky, and packed with flavor that tastes just like your favorite restaurant-style burger sauce. This easy homemade sauce comes together in just a few minutes with simple pantry ingredients, but it completely transforms burgers, fries, sandwiches, and more. Once you make it, you’ll want to keep a jar in your fridge at all times. And the best part? It’s gluten-free and easy to customize.

A classic smash burger needs a special sauce and this creamy sauce hits the spot. Smash burgers have been around for a while, however I recently fell down the smash-burger rabbit hole and make them nonstop, especially during grilling season. The technique is unbeatable with crispy edges and juicy centers, but this sauce takes the burgers to another level of deliciousness!
Ways to Use It
I’m not sure about you, but we are a major sauce and dip kind of family. We use this sauce on many things, but it’s especially amazing on:
- Smash burgers
- French fries or potato wedges
- Chicken sandwiches
- Wraps
- Hot dogs and bratwurst
- Breakfast sandwiches
Honestly, it makes almost everything taste better.
Variations
There are endless ways of switching up this sauce to suit your mood! Here’s some of our own ideas to change it up:
- For a garlicky twist: Add in 1 tablespoon minced garlic or a pinch of garlic powder.
- For a spicy twist: Add in diced jalapenos or 1 tablespoon of hot sauce for extra heat.
- For an oniony twist: Add 1 tablespoon finely minced white onion or shallot.
- For a smoky twist: Add 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or chipotle chili powder.
