Why You’ll Love This Coleslaw

  • Dairy-free and gluten-friendly
  • Perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and spicy
  • Quick and easy to make
  • Great for BBQs, potlucks, and weeknight dinner all year long
  • Super easy make-ahead salad to go with meals all week

Coleslaw is so delicious and so versatile. We love to add this as a side dish to a lot of meals, especially throughout the summer. I mean, no barbeque is complete without easy, creamy coleslaw. One of the best parts of this coleslaw is that it tastes even better the second or third day making it perfect to have on hand for the week. The veggies soften a little and the flavors just combine perfectly together.

Tips and Notes:

  • Healthier option: Swap half of the mayo in the coleslaw dressing for plain Greek yogurt.
  • Flavor secret: A 30 minute rest after mixing everything together will do wonders for the flavors! It gives the veggies time to soak in the flavors of the dressing.
  • Spicy Coleslaw: Add more siracha to make your coleslaw spicier. If you don’t want it spicy, just omit the siracha.
  • Make Ahead option: Prepare and combine all veggies. Then prepare the coleslaw sauce. Store both separately in airtight containers in fridge for up to a week or earlier. When ready to serve, just toss the slaw with the sauce and garnish.
  • Time crunch: We love the taste of fresh cabbage and carrots, but it’s totally okay to grab a mix at the store if you’re on a time crunch.
  • Mix-ins: If you want to customize your coleslaw, try adding diced onion, diced apples or strawberries, chopped oranges, dried cranberries, sliced almonds, green onions, or diced bell pepper or cucumber.
  • Storage: Stores well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

This spicy coleslaw makes a delicious snack any time of the day, but it’s insanely delicious with many dishes, especially our BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches!
