Sourdough Tools I Love

If you’re new to sourdough baking, gluten-free or not, it can feel like you need a whole kitchen full of fancy tools to get started. The truth is that you really don’t! A simple bowl, a spatula, kitchen towel, parchment paper, sharp knife, and your hands can take you a long way. But over time, I’ve found a few sourdough tools that make the process easier, cleaner, and a little more fun. None of these are required, but they’re definitely some of my favorites to use in my kitchen.

All the Sourdough Tools
Here’s the link to my full Amazon Storefront that has everything I use & love in sourdough, kitchen, home, lifestyle, kids, & more! These tools aren’t required, but I have found them to be useful in the process:
- Apron
- 16oz & 32oz wide-mouth glass jars (I start with 16oz & as my starter grows I use a 32oz jar)
- Spurtle (or strong handle of a spatula: these spatulas are my favorite for everything in the kitchen!)
- Large mixing bowl or these fun colored glass bowls!
- Lightweight tea towel (kitchen towels work great too…I think I have a set from Costco!)
- Measuring cups & spoons
- Dutch oven or my new fav Dutch oven!
- Danish Dough whisk
- Dough scraper
- Bread lame
- Banneton/proofing basket (or a kitchen bowl)
- Whisk, scraper, & bread lame kit (optional)
- Tools & banneton baskets kit (optional)
- Flour sifter
- Bread Bow (or sharp bread knife)
- Thermometer
- Parchment paper
- Cooling rack
- 1/2 gallon glass jar (optional for counter storage & increasing starter amount)
