Crisp Green Beans Almondine

Crisp, vibrant green beans sauteed to perfection! This classic French recipe is buttery, garlicky, and nutty, but can be made gluten & dairy free easily! Plus, the kids LOVE it! They’ll eat a pile of green beans this way, making this a go-to side dish in our house!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 lbs green beans
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp dry sherry vinegar
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, boil the green beans in lightly salted water for about 6-8 minutes until done. Then, drain thoroughly and set aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and garlic. Then, add the brown sugar, sherry, & cider vinegar. Stir for about 30 seconds then add the green beans. Toss well to coat.
  • Add the almonds, 1/2 tsp salt, & pepper, tossing to combine well. Remove and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with steak, chicken, turkey, or a holiday meal - they truly pair well with any protein & maybe some warm gluten free sourdough to round out the meal!
Dairy-free: use dairy free butter, we like Earth Balance.
Store in an airtight container in refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat when ready to serve.
